A warm welcome to worship in the churches of the United Benefice of
Darton with Staincross and Mapplewell. Both All Saints, Darton and St
John the Evangelist, Staincross are parish churches: i.e. we are there
for everyone in this part of Barnsley (and beyond too!), and the
pattern of worship in our churches reflects the local Church’s
commitment to being here to enable everyone to enter into the mystery
of God’s love for all people, everywhere.
Every Sunday – and during the week too - in both Darton and Staincross the Church meets in obedience to the Lord, to perform that one religious act which Jesus commanded his followers to do: to meet him in the breaking of the bread and the sharing of the cup. We call this act the Holy Mass, or the Holy Eucharist, but in essence it is the same whatever its name: the sacramental encounter of the people of God with the one God who is Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier of all. If you have not recently been a regular attender at Church we hope that you will ‘catch’ something of the atmosphere of the people of God caught up in the mystery of God.
